Penny Reid’s New Bananapants
She wrote Bananapants, actually, which I’ve had the privilege of reading over the last couple of weeks. Penny and I have been friends for a long time (2016, to be exact), and I have also had the privilege of going to a YARN SHOP with her, so everyone should be jealous of me. Shoutout to Penny’s Knitting in the City fans.
I also realized, right after finishing Bananapants, that I OWN BANANAPANTS. I literally own them!
Last year, I went to a church thrift shop that was having a $10 “fill a bag” sale. I grabbed these for Clark, then realized they fit me LOL.
Keeping it nice and sexy!
This is me trying and failing to twerk.
Anyhow, back to Penny!!
Her newest book, like so many of her stories, is nuanced and complex, funny and poignant, cutting and incisive. And that’s just the copyright page!
But seriously - this book is about real representation of a main character with serious mental health issues, done with love and care and rawness and humor, all in one big bundle of outstanding writing.

Listened to My New Audiobook Yet?
Never Fall for the Bride’s Father released in audiobook recently, so if you haven’t gotten your copy yet, go grab it!
It’s in the “Whispersync” program on Amazon, which means you can get the entire audiobook for just 7.97 when you own the eBook. Or use an Audible credit if you’re a member.
Happy listening!
Kindle Unlimited - Coming Soon!
Longtime readers of mine know that for the most part, I’ve kept my books “wide” most of my career, though I got my start in Kindle Select, Amazon’s program for readers. Now that Kindle Unlimited turns 10 (ten years!), it’s a well-established program.
The following books have been in “KU” at some point:
Her Billionaires
It’s Complicated
Completely Complicated
It’s Always Complicated
Maliciously Obedient
Suspiciously Obedient
Deliciously Obedient
and all the Random books up to 2020.
Over the next few months, all of my English-language books as Julia Kent, Meli Raine, and DJ Jennings will be cycling through KU.
If you don’t read on Amazon, FYI! Soon, you’ll only be able to find my books in audiobook and print format everywhere except Amazon.
You can still buy the eBooks on Amazon, but now KU subscribers will be able to read them as well within the KU program.
I’ll start in September and put entire series in in waves.
Everything changes, and this is a very exciting change for me, because it means new readers will find me. “Old” readers (sorry… not sure what to call you LOL) get more options now as well.
I don’t know if this is permanent. I’ve learned over the last few years that nothing ever unfolds in life as expected.
Kobo, Nook, Google Play and Apple Books eBook readers - now’s the time to finish any series of mine, if you exclusively read eBooks from those stores. Same with library readers who use Libby or Hoopla. Read through my series now, before the eBooks go into KU.
My plan for future books is to release “wide” (not just on Amazon), but then to put my books in Amazon within a day or two of release, so readers get the best of both worlds!
Books That Cost Nothing
This time, I’m highlighting my own books on retailers. If you haven’t grabbed this one yet, now’s your chance:
This was so fun and full of warmth
The shirts are fun, although your twerking needs some work. 🤣🤣
