EVERY YEAR, on Thanksgiving, I seek out this old video clip from the 1970s television show, WKRP in Cincinnati.
Yes, I watched the original as a kid. We lived outside of Dayton, Ohio (my dad was stationed at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base), so a show about Cincinnati was cool! Local!
I have never, ever heard my father laugh as hard as he did when this episode was aired. It’s a fond childhood memory, and I present it to you, for a gut-busting few minutes of fun.
Clark vs. The Turkeys
No Thanksgiving celebration would be complete without pulling out a post from my archives. Here’s an “oldie but goodie” about Clark fighting off turkeys… with a plastic lawn chair.
Shopping for a Turkey
Let me say this: back in 2014, when I came up with the title “Shopping for a Billionaire” to describe a mystery shopper who ends up with a billionaire, I never thought through the long-term implications of what “Shopping for a…” would do to titling stories in this world.
I also never thought I’d be writing stories in this world, so many years later. When I decided to pen a Thanksgiving story featuring the very Scottish Hamish McCormick, coming to the Jacoby Thanksgiving feast as an outsider, Clark said, “You have to call it Shopping for a Turkey.”
Such a romantic title, eh?
But it’s a fun romp, a great beginning to Hamish and Amy’s relationship, and if you haven’t read it yet, grab it now.
The new covers are going through slowly, but they’re coming. Meanwhile, read it and enjoy to get in the turkey mood. <3
I absolutely loved that show! I am probably a little older than you--I think I was in high school. And my whole family was ROFL. Even though we didn't have that term then.
WKRP is a classic. Every year it is a go to.
